Diver Propulsion Vehicle (DPV) (Including 2 Open Water Dives)

Join us for the ultimate in underwater exhilaration! DPV’s are fun, easy to use and allow you to explore more of a dive site than you ever thought possible. You will be diving sites in the open water in style using the latest DPV technology from SEA-DOO. Little physical effort is required to dive with a DPV so you can expect improved air consumption and extended dive times as you relax and enjoy your dives. Our DPV Instructor guided Speciality allows you to complete this amazing Speciality in just one class session with an optional pool session and two open water dives!

Boat Diving (Including 2 Open Water Dives)

Do you dream of exploring offshore reefs and kelp beds, inaccessible to the shore diver? If so, then boat diving is the answer for you. Boats allow divers to explore spectacular sites miles from the shore — sites with clearer water and more marine life.

SSI offers a Boat Diving Speciality course. Each Speciality course at SSI uses a complete training system consisting of the manual, chapter review questions, and a short video to present key concepts and skills. This course will teach you everything you need to know about diving from personal, charter, and Liveaboard boats.

Computer Diving

Diving at depth requires the use of some special equipment, IE, depth gauge, time keeping device and pressure gauge. For years these three pieces of equipment have been used to calculate repetitive dives and help prevent medical problems. Recently however, the advent of the dive computer has increased the number of tools at the diver’s disposal. This course combines a review of repetitive diving and new technology, and will familiarise a diver with how the dive computer works.

Deep Diving (Including 2 Open Water Dives)

Deep diving opens the door to many different activities such as Wreck Diving, and the chance to see coral and marine life found only at deeper depths. But deep diving also requires more intensive preparation and planning.

SSI offers a Deep Diving Speciality course. Each Speciality course at SSI uses a complete training system. The system uses the manual, including chapter review questions, and a short video to present to you all aspects and techniques related to diving in deeper depths!

Dry Suit Diving (Including 2 Open Water Dives)

Do you get cold while diving? A dry suit may be the answer for you. Dry suits are unique exposure suits that keep you warm, comfortable and DRY even under water. With just a little training, you can enjoy diving as you never have before. You’ll see, as so many others have, that diving dry really is better. With a dry suit, you can dive in places and see marine life that you can’t with a regular wet suit.

Each speciality course at SSI uses a complete training system. The system uses the manual, including chapter review questions, and a short video to present everything you need to know about purchasing, using, maintaining, and having fun in dry suits.

Enriched Air Nitrox (Including 2 Open Water Dives)

Have you ever dreamed of more bottom time to take photos or explore wrecks? Enriched Air Nitrox now brings this benefit to recreational divers, but Nitrox diving also requires more intensive preparation and planning.

SSI offers you a complete diver training system for learning how to dive with Nitrox. The system uses the textbook, including chapter review questions, to present everything you need to know about Enriched Air Nitrox.

Equipment Techniques (By fully qualified Technician)

The use of high quality and properly maintained scuba equipment enhances the enjoyment of the sport. When you master your scuba equipment, you will not only be able to help others with minor repairs, but your own diving career becomes a pleasurable experience as your confidence and ability grow.

SSI offers a speciality course in Equipment Techniques which utilises a complete teaching system. This includes a textbook with chapter review questions and a short video to present equipment tips straight from the pros.

Navigation (Including 2 Open Water Dives)

Whether using a compass or your natural surroundings, you as a scuba diver, can learn to master your marine environments through the skills of navigation. The ability to navigate into fascinating new destinations enhances your diving adventure and increases your level of confidence.

SSI offers you a complete diver training system for this Speciality. The system uses the textbook, including chapter review questions, and a short video to present everything you need to know about natural and compass navigation

Night/Limited Visibility Diving (Including 2 Open Water Dives)

Whether it’s day or night, limited visibility can be an adventure. Just because the visibility is limited doesn’t mean the opportunities are. Night diving is a natural extension of a diver’s activities. The colourful nocturnal creatures glowing under a dive light create a spectacular surreal combination. With limited visibility diving, your range of activities is unsurpassed, opening up new dive sites to explore in your own locale.

SSI offers a Night Diving/Limited Visibility Speciality course. Each Speciality course at SSI uses a complete training system. The system uses the manual, including chapter review questions, and a short video to present everything you need to know about diving after dark, or when the visibility is limited.

Search and Recovery (Including 2 Open Water Dives)

Often, divers are asked to search for and recover items lost in the water. It might be a ring, watch, or even some object as large as a boat motor. Whatever the object may be, divers need to assess the situation and determine their ability to retrieve that object. Many considerations need to be addressed, such as stress, depth, size, equipment restrictions, and cost benefit.

Of course, this is an activity you can undertake on your own, but a course can accelerate the learning process, and make you a safer, more productive search and recovery diver.

Underwater Photography (Including 2 Open Water Dives)

If you are looking for a new way to expand your diving adventures, then underwater photography is for you. Increase your buoyancy control and skill level while capturing your memories on film. Learn to understand and select photo equipment, while mastering the basics of taking underwater photos. This course is the first step to a new outlook - even a new career in diving!

SSI offers an Underwater Photography Speciality course. Each Speciality course at SSI uses a complete training system. The system uses the manual, including chapter review questions, to present key concepts and skills. Local SSI Affiliated Schools offer the course, and usually host such events as underwater photo contests, as well as dive trips where your opportunities for photos are endless!

Waves, Tides, and Currents

Water motion can have a tremendous effect on the diver, in fact the sea can be a hostile environment to a diver who is not prepared. But with proper training and common sense you can deal with the minor problems of moving water and enjoy diving to its fullest.

Wreck Diving (Including 2 Open Water Dives)

Wreck diving is a specialised area of scuba diving that can be enjoyed by all divers in all areas of the world. It offers a new outlet for adventure and helps satisfy the diver’s natural curiosity by allowing a glimpse into our past. Discover how fascinating wreck research can be while learning how to select the best wreck sites and equipment for your skill level. Wreck diving will open up a whole new world, but only if you are properly trained.

SSI offers a Wreck Diving Speciality course. Each Speciality course at SSI uses a complete training system. The system uses the manual, including chapter review questions, and a short video to present key concepts and skills.
